Helpful Advice for Planning a Wedding

 Start wedding planning early

The earlier you get onto it, the easier, and less stressful it will be as your day approaches. Having a clear plan before you start will help you keep on top of everything and be sure that you don’t forget something important

Appreciate Wedding Planning

The time couples spend wedding planning allows them to decide how they want to navigate familiar traditions, cultures, expectations, and needs as they transition into their new lives as their own family. It’s important to see this time can be an adventure, rather than a stressful experience!

Choose the Date

The first item on your wedding planning checklist should be deciding on a date. Wedding season is usually in the late spring through early fall with peak season between June and September make sure to book early and lock in your dream date!

Plan a Budget

This step is the most important in your wedding planning process. Don’t spend anything until you’ve set a realistic budget. Before making any decisions about your wedding, ie choosing your dress, venue, or decor, you should determine your guest count and your wedding budget to ensure you don’t go overboard with spending! There are so many different options to ensure a spectacular event while respecting your budget. Consider the total cost of your celebration before anything else!

Be selective with the guest list

Once you’ve decided on the type of wedding you want to have, you can start on your wedding invite list. Sorting the guest list early is important so you can then focus on finding the perfect venue that will cater for your chosen number of guests. Costs per person will most likely be your biggest expense, so don’t be guilt-tripped into inviting people you don’t want to attend. It’s the biggest and hardest decision in the whole planning process, but it must be the couple’s decision only!

 Consider Hiring a Wedding Planner

Many newly engaged couples underestimate the importance of having a professional wedding planner to assist them in the planning of their big day. Today, many engaged couples both work full time, have a robust social life, and every second counts. Having a professional guiding you through the planning process and paying close attention to the details, will create a smooth and exciting wedding day. Also, wedding planners have established relationships with vendors, which can help with finding special offerings on catering, entertainment, venues, and more.

Create an Inspiration Board

This is one of our favorite ideas! Creating an inspiration board allows for your creativity to flow. On this board you can organize your thoughts, visions and really help your vendors have a clear idea as to what direction you would like to take your event. Hosting your color scheme, dress inspiration, floral arrangements and so much more is an amazing start to an extraordinary event.

Design a Wedding Website

A website is the easiest way to keep your guests and wedding party in the loop! There are so many options out there such as Zola, With Joy and The Knot. These websites allow you to inform your party on dress code, location and scheduling. This is an awesome way to give your guests guidance without them needing to reach out to you or your partner. Save-the-Dates should be sent around eight to 12 months before your wedding to give guests plenty of time to plan.

Trust Your Gut

Follow your gut and do your research when it comes to choosing your vendors, don’t settle. Surround yourself with people who are looking out for you have your best interests instead of trying to sell you something you don’t really need.

Lock Down Your Vendors

Planning a wedding means working with a variety of vendors to make sure your day is flawless. Vendors can range from your Venue, Floral Designer, DJ Entertainment, Bridal Salon, Makeup artist etc.

Book the best photographer you can

Great Photography is paramount. It is the single most important purchase you’ll make; one you can never redo therefore contract the very best you can when it comes to preserving lifelong memories! Your wedding album is how you’ll relive the cherished memories of your day, so don’t underestimate the importance of a good photographer. Research carefully and find someone who understands exactly what you want. Engagement shoots are a great idea too, because you’ll get to know your photographer better as well as practice your poses!

The Right Officiant

Choosing an officiant often gets left at the bottom of a wedding planning checklist but it is such a key part of your big day. Once you find one you love, make sure you can meet with them prior to your ceremony to discuss everything you are envisioning and don’t forget to discuss availability for the rehearsal!

Select your Besties

Your bridesmaids should be your biggest support throughout the planning process, so choose wisely. Friends you’ve recently made or cousins you rarely see are not the best choice. Instead choose your sisters, long-term best friends or close relatives. The last thing you’ll want is to look at your wedding album a few years later and to be no longer in touch with one of your bridesmaids.

Give your groom his own responsibilities

Your fiancé may not have been planning his wedding since he was five, but he will have his own ideas and opinions and will want a say in the planning. Listen to what he says and remember it’s his day, too. Most guys like to get involved with the menu, music and budget spreadsheets.

Choose Formal Wear

Typically, wedding dresses should be bought nine months to a year out, while bridesmaids dresses, groomsmen tuxes, and the groom’s tux should be bought or rented about four to six months out. When it comes to shopping for your bridal gown, it is beneficial to have inspiration pictures ready beforehand so your stylist can have an idea of what you might like at the start of the appointment! Being open-minded and willing to try different styles can help with finding a gown you’ll feel perfect in. This is your day so feel free to sit back and relax while your stylist pulls gowns that she feels fit your criteria of style and silhouette. Do not be surprised if you find your forever gown on the first try, it happens all the time! Make sure to stay upbeat and positive as this is an exciting time in your journey!

Feel Fabulous, but don’t overdo it

Everyone wants to look fab in their wedding photos, so if you’d like a confidence boost, now’s the time to adopt a healthy eating plan and practice a few simple exercises to tone your body. On the other hand, going on an extreme diet is not a good idea.  Just remember that your groom wants to marry you exactly the way you are!

 Hair and Makeup Appointments

Hairstylists and makeup artists can book out months in advance, particularly during peak wedding season. This means that if you have an artist in mind, make sure to reach out to them immediately after selecting your date. A lot of brides don’t think about hair and makeup until closer to their selected date, but by then it may be too late to lock in your dream artist!

Plan Your Honeymoon

Planning a wedding can be stressful enough without thinking about another trip! But think of planning your honeymoon as your reward for all that hard work. Reserve Hotel Rooms If you have out-of-town guests traveling for your wedding, work with a local hotel to reserve a block of rooms.

Create Your Registry

Create a wedding registry early in the planning process to give guests time to purchase gifts and continue to celebrate you and your partner’s love!

 Mailing Wedding Invitations

Wedding invitations are usually sent six to eight weeks before the big day.

Set Details for the Rehearsal

The rehearsal dinner is typically held the night before the wedding and is a great way for the wedding party to run through the ceremony.

Get Your Marriage License There is one very important wedding planning step that can’t be forgotten: getting a marriage license! This will lock your love in the eyes of your state.

Repurpose Your Flowers

It’s a great idea for couples to donate their flower arrangements after their wedding, perhaps to local charities, hospices, hospitals, and nursing homes.  Allowing the florals to brighten up someone’s day, will make the couple happy knowing one of their large budget items is going to be appreciated a second time around.

Ignore “Rules”

Couples get wrapped up in what they are and are not supposed to do, so that they completely forget this is the one day they can do whatever they please. There are no rules Nothing is set in stone—throw out whatever preconceived notions you had about how a wedding is supposed to go.

Keep the Day Personal

Your wedding is all about the two of you, so let if be reflective of your stories, family backgrounds, shared interests, personal styles and travels instead of being built on recycled ideas from other weddings. From the stationery and favors to the outfits and first dance, guests should say ‘that’s so them!’

Make Marriage Your Priority

In the rush of planning, don’t lose sight of the big picture. Nothing about a wedding is as important as the marriage that will follow. A wedding is a beginning, not an end in and of itself. There will be different points of view, and perhaps even disagreements, as you plan your wedding. Always make your marriage a priority, the details of the wedding are just those, details.

Embrace the Experience

Cherish your journey. Many people focus on the destination and forget that getting there is half the fun. All the shopping meetings, tastings, choices consider it a process of self-discovery, creativity, and collaboration. How couples communicate and listen to each other while they’re planning is a direct reflection of what their married life will be like. As with any journey, who you travel with and how you travel can be more important than the destination

Remember to focus on your partner and your new life together, have fun with your friends and family, and allow beautiful memories to be made. You deserve to have a good time! Prom Inspiration from the Netflix Movie The Prom

Netflix The Prom

This past December, Netflix released a star-studded musical comedy film titled, The Prom. The film, starring big names like Meryl Streep, James Corden, Nicole Kidman, Kerry Washington, and more focused on one student’s prom journey when her school decides to cancel their prom rather than be inclusive to all couples. At one point in the movie, the main character decides to throw her own prom- something that many students have had to face the past year due to the pandemic.

That’s where Castle Couture comes in! If you are looking for some prom inspiration for throwing your own prom, or just need some prom inspiration in general, you have come to the right place! So without further ado, here are some prom inspiration tips inspired by Netflix’s movie, The Prom

Prom Inspiration Tips

  • Make an entrance they will remember with a dress they won’t forget.

Finding the perfect dress for your prom can be a make it or break it. You want to feel comfortable, confident, and stylish so that you can make a memorable entrance that you and your friends will remember- just like in the movie, The Prom, when Meryl Streep’s character makes a grand entrance despite the fact that she is only in a school theatre in a small town in Indiana. It doesn’t matter where your prom is held or if you throw your own prom or not, feeling confident and free is a great way to ensure the rest of your prom night is a success!

  • Find a great date or group.

Once you find the perfect prom dress, you will also want to find the perfect prom date or group. Whether you go with a date, friends, or a big group of people, finding the people that you will share this memorable night with is key. The best accessory to a Castle Couture dress is a great group of people to spend the night with and put a smile on your face!

  • Accessorize and prepare for the big night.

Finding your perfect prom dress from Castle Couture is a huge check off of the prom to-do list, but don’t forget to accessorize! Whether it is getting the right jewelry, shoes, or bag to go with your dress, you are going to want to find these accessories to complete the look for your prom night! Grab some friends to help you put together your full outfit and then get ready together on the big day for even more fun! It is moments like these that you will remember forever, and the dress and accessories that you wear will always hold a special place!

  • Dance your heart out.

Prom nights don’t come around often, so be sure to take full advantage of it while you can. Dance and sing the night away with your friends and enjoy the decorations and events. And again, even if you had to throw your own prom, that doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy it even more than the typical prom. With a dazzling dress from Castle Couture, it’s time to let loose and have the time of your life!

  • Express your own individual style.

At Castle Couture, there are hundreds and thousands of different dress styles, colors, fits, and designs to choose from. Short or long dresses, simple or extravagant designs, subtle or bold colors, there is no limit to what you can find with our selection of prom dresses online and in-stores. The most important thing to remember when picking a dress, however, is to be yourself and express your own individual style. Choose the dress that shows off who you really are and makes you feel like your most authentic self. That way, you will have no problem feeling confident and enjoying the night in your one-of-a-kind prom dress.

  • Have fun!

Now that you have the perfect dress, the perfect group, and all of the prom inspiration you could need, it’s time to have fun and enjoy the night! Castle Couture is honored to provide prom dresses to so many different people that will bring memories that last a lifetime.

Veil 101: How to Find the Perfect Veil for the Perfect Day

There is so much to do when it comes to planning the perfect wedding day. From finding the perfect venue, dress, ring and of course the perfect soul mate, it can be easy to overlook some small but majorly important details! This week we’re going to chat about all things veils and everything you need to know when shopping for one.

A Style For Everyone

Each and every bride is so unique and it is so important that they have a veil that will express her special qualities. Here we will break down the different lengths, styles and looks you can rock on your special day!

We chatted with Castle Couture’s Accessories Manager, Cathy Fratangelo, to see what advice she had to give for brides that are still in search of a veil. “My advice is always to be open-minded and remember to have the gown as your main focus. I like to think of accessories as the “icing on the cake” it is what really ties a look together. I always tell my brides to try on different things, because pictures are forever and this is how you want to be remembered.”

The Princess Bride

If you’re the bride who is looking to truly tie in the fairytale factor on your big day, nothing screams happily ever after more than a cathedral veil! (https://www.instagram.com/p/BxkSoC0hJW6/) These veils can be beautifully embellished with lace or beadwork and drape so elegantly behind you as you walk down the aisle to the love of your life. They can range from 117” up to however many feet you’d like, as long as time permits for customizations. These veils are the perfect amount of drama and elegance all in one.

The Classic Bride

If you aren’t looking for the drama and are in search of a more timeless, classic look than a fabulous fingertip veil (https://www.instagram.com/p/B4fvk4OBLua/)  may be the perfect style for you. Fingertip veils, just like cathedrals, can range from being heavily embellished, have intricate lace or simple tulle. A hot style in the world of bridal is wearing a crystalline tulle on your big day.

The Custom Bride

One of the most fabulous things about your wedding day is that you have the luxury of making every call and picking out every minor detail. This rule especially applies when it comes to your gown, veil, and jewelry. One of the most exciting parts about accessory shopping is that this could be your chance to tie in your whole look to be everything you’ve ever wanted. Here at Castle Couture, you’re able to sit down with one of our stylists and describe exactly what you are looking for when it comes to not only your veil but your headpiece and jewelry as well. We can customize just about every and anything ; whether it is the length, extra appliques, a change in beadwork or anything else you could imagine, here we are able to personalize your look to make a one of a kind piece for yourself.

Not Just Your Basic Ivory

While on the topic of custom pieces, not every bride has the luxury of picking out every small detail for their big day usually due to time. We always recommend a bride to purchase her veil along with her gown, this way you can ensure that the two are a perfect match. If you don’t have the luxury to pick out your accessories the day you find your dream dress, we still have you covered! In stock, we have everything from white, ivory, champagne and even black veils. This is something we pride ourselves in because we are able to help each and every one of our brides.

Blusher vs No Blusher

This is a question that brides ask more often than not. Are blushers in? Do they have to wear them? Is it a tradition? Our job is the ensure and remind you that this is your special day and there truly is no style that is “in” anymore. Each bride is extremely unique and so are their wishes for their wedding day. We tried getting to the bottom of the blusher vs no blusher debate and reached out once again to our Accessories Manager, Cathy Fratangelo. Cathy concluded that about 75% of our brides decide not to wear a blusher down the aisle, while the other quarter continues to rock this style on their big day. One trend she did note in regards to the brides who do choose to wear blushers is that they are purchasing a style that is longer than the blusher that their parents may have worn.

Common Questions

I didn’t purchase my veil the day I bought my wedding dress, can I still shop for one?

Of course, you can! Stop in anytime during operating hours to work with a skilled stylist and find the veil that suits you and your gown best. Keep in mind, it can take about four to five months for certain styles to arrive

How long does it take to order a veil?

A standard veil can take about four months to come in and a customized veil can take about six months to arrive.

Do I wear my veil all night?

You can do whatever you prefer, but a majority of our brides do tend to take the veil off after the ceremony. This way they can take photos with the veil, say their “I do’s,” and still be able to dance the night away!

If you’re interested in setting up an accessories appointment give us a call at 732-617-1414 and we’d love to help you find the perfect veil!

Bridal Accessories: Complete Your Bridal Look

You have your stunning bridal gown, now it’s time to jazz it up with some fabulous accessories! Bridal gowns are all so unique, but what makes your look different and custom to you is the way you accessorize. From your earrings to your veil to your purse there is an endless amount of ways for a bride to make her look exclusive and catered to her style. Let’s break down all the accessories you should check out next time you’re at Castle Couture!

Add Some Sparkle!

Diamonds truly are a girl’s best friend so adding some bling to your big day look is exactly what you need to enhance any bridal look. Every gown, no matter the style, should have a pair of earrings. Whether this is a classic stud, glistening teardrop or bold hoop any earring will bring the eye up from your beautiful gown to your eyes. A big question we receive is typically in regards to when is it “too much” when it comes to accessorizing. We never believe it is ever “too much” it is really up to the bride and her personality as to how much bling she wants to have. It is the bride’s big day and everything should be catered to her liking and preferences.

If you are one of those brides who happen to love lots of bling, we have you covered! Castle Couture offers an array of bracelets, necklaces, earrings and much more when it comes to our jewelry selection. Whether you are looking for fine jewelry to treat yourself with or something more simple like Swarovski crystals we have something for every bride.

Grab a Bridal Bag

An accessory that is commonly overlooked would be a purse for the bride. The purses we have available at Castle Couture are beyond beautiful. They range from ivory, silver and even pops of color all embellished with glamourous beads that will enhance any bridal day look. Lots of brides always worry about what bag to bring because like anyone they have their necessities that need to be taken care of such as their phone, lipstick, mints/gum or anything else you may need to have right on hand that day. The pursues we sell her at Castle Couture are a perfect size, most are about seven inches long, ideal for fitting in an iPhone and a couple of other must-haves.

The Perfect Veil

Veils are one of our favorite accessories here! They are such a fun way to add to your look and really enhance your dress overall. There are a few different styles of veils, some popular ones include cathedral, fingertip, elbow, and chapel! Let’s quickly break down the difference between each so you can ask to see some at your next accessory appointment. Starting from the top would be the elbow. This length is just as it sounds, it ends at your elbow! Just how a fingertip veil literally ends at your fingertips. Both are extremely common styles, they are easy to work with, stay very well in most hairstyles and can be left on all night (if you wanted!) The next length brings us to chapel, this one goes a little past your ankles and closely follows behind you on floor. This is a very traditional look and is beautiful with a simple sheath gown. The longest veil of these four is the cathedral length. This veil is at least 100 inches and gives us extreme princess vibes. To learn more about what veil is right for you and everything you need to know about what a blusher is and how to wear one, check out our previous blog, Veil 101 (https://www.castlecouturenj.com/blog/post/2019/12/14/veils-101-how-to-find-the-perfect-veil/). We sat down to chat with one of our accessory stylists, Alice Seepesaud and asked what advice she would give to a bride who is beginning to shop for veils. “I always love to encourage my brides to go with a cathedral length veil. No matter how long or short your train is, a cathedral veil will complete your bridal look and add drama to your gown. Also, try and keep the detailing of the veil simple. Let your dress speak for itself!”

When to Shop?

We always encourage our brides to purchase their bridal accessories the same day they purchase their bride gowns, but of course, that is not always the case. If you are one of our beautiful brides who did not say yes to these accessories the day you found your dream dress, you can always search for accessories the day you come in for your Try on Gown appointment. A Try on Gown appointment is when you come into the boutique to try on the gown that was ordered for you to ensure everything is perfect. At that time, you can meet with our accessory stylists so they can bring over different styles of veils, jewelry, handbags and even show you the selection of Badgley Mischka shoes that we offer! Stop in anytime during operating hours so we can help you find the perfect accessories.

Bridal gowns are all so unique, but what makes your look different and custom to you is the way you accessorize. From your earrings to your veil to your handbag, there are an endless number of ways for a bride to make her look exclusive and catered to her style. Let’s break down all the accessories you should check out next time you’re at Castle Couture!

Add Some Sparkle!

Diamonds truly are a girl’s best friend, so adding some bling to your wedding day look is exactly what you need to enhance any bridal look. Every bridal gown, no matter the style, should have a pair of earrings. Whether this is a classic stud, glistening teardrop, or bold hoop, any earring will bring the eye up from your beautiful gown to your eyes. A big question we receive is typically in regard to when it is “too much” when it comes to accessorizing. We never believe it is ever “too much”; it is really up to the bride and her personality as to how much bling she wants to have. It is the bride’s big day and everything should be catered to her liking and preferences.

If you are one of those brides who happens to love lots of bling, we have you covered! Castle Couture offers an array of bracelets, necklaces, earrings, and much more when it comes to our jewelry selection. Whether you are looking for fine jewelry to treat yourself with or something simpler like Swarovski crystals, we have something for every bride.

Grab a Bridal Bag

An accessory that is commonly overlooked would be an evening bag or clutch for the bride. The special occasion purses we have available at Castle Couture are beyond beautiful. They range from ivory and silver to pops of color, all embellished with glamorous beads that will enhance any bridal look. Lots of brides worry about what handbag to bring because, like anyone, they have their necessities that need to be taken care of, such as their phone, lipstick, mints/gum, or anything else you may need to have right on hand that day. The evening bags we sell here are a perfect size: Most are about seven inches long, which is ideal for fitting in a cell phone and a couple of other must-haves.

The Perfect Veil

Veils are one of our favorite accessories! They are such a fun way to add to your look and really enhance your dress overall. There are a few different styles of veils. Some popular ones include elbow, fingertip, chapel, and cathedral! Let’s quickly break down the difference between each so you can ask to see some at your next bridal accessory appointment. Starting from the top would be the elbow. This length is just as it sounds: It ends at your elbow! Just how a fingertip veil literally ends at your fingertips. Both are extremely common styles, they are easy to work with, stay very well in most hairstyles, and can be left on all night (if you want!). The next length brings us to chapel: This one goes a little past your ankles and closely follows behind you on floor. This is a very traditional look and is beautiful with a simple sheath gown. The longest veil of these four is the cathedral length. This veil is at least 100 inches long and gives extreme princess vibes. To learn more about what veil is right for you and everything you need to know about what a blusher is and how to wear one, check out our previous blog, Veil 101. We sat down to chat with one of our accessory stylists, Alice Seepersaud, and asked what advice she would give to a bride who is beginning to shop for veils. “I always love to encourage my brides to go with a cathedral length veil. No matter how long or short your train is, a cathedral veil will complete your bridal look and add drama to your gown. Also, try and keep the detailing of the veil simple. Let your dress speak for itself!”

When to Shop?

We always encourage our brides to purchase their bridal accessories the same day they purchase their wedding gowns, but, of course, that is not always the case. If you are one of our beautiful brides who did not say yes to these accessories the day you found your dream dress, you can always search for accessories the day you come in for your Try on Gown appointment. (A Try on Gown appointment is when you come into the boutique to try on the gown that was ordered for you and to ensure everything is perfect.) At that time, you can meet with our accessory stylists so they can bring over different styles of veils, jewelry, and handbags, and even show you the selection of Badgley Mischka bridal shoes that we offer!

Stop in anytime during operating hours or book an appointment so we can help you find the perfect accessories.

How to Take Your Disney-Themed Wedding to the Next Level

Allure Bridals’ new Disney Fairy Tale Weddings Collection

How to Take Your Disney Themed Wedding to the Next Level

Nothing screams romance like a handsome prince charming, gorgeous princess, and a little bit of magic. Now what has all of this fabulousness in one place? Disney! Disney is one of our favorite wedding themes here at Castle Couture. (It’s almost too fitting!) This blog post is going to be for all of our Disney lovers and give them all our favorite Disney wedding ideas. We are going to cover decorations, favors, accessories, and more!

Accessorize in Disney!

Your wedding day is truly focused on the bride and groom, which means all eyes will be on the two of you, so for both of you to look your best is a must! Some of our favorite touches of Disney to tie in with your look is in your shoes. Heels (or even sneakers!) with Disney decals have us totally gushing. It makes for a great photo op and an adorable way to tie in your whole Disney theme even further. More options for the bride’s accessories would be to wear some simple Disney-themed jewelry. Whether you want to do a simple Minnie Mouse stud, a bangle, or a simple charm necklace, it’s so easy to elegantly blend it in with your whole look. As for the groom, we are loving the looks of these fun cufflinks and adorable socks.

Disney Wedding Favors

We are always reminding our brides that one of the most special parts of your wedding day is the time that is shared with your loved ones. Family and friends take time to travel and celebrate the love you and your significant other have for one another and nothing could ever top that. That’s why we think it is so important to thank them in a creative and meaningful way! Coming up with a wedding favor that is something they’ll not only enjoy but want to keep forever to remember your big day is such an honor.

When hosting a Disney wedding, here are some adorable favor ideas that your guests are bound to love. We found these charming Mickey Mouse Key Bottle Openers and thought it would be such a great addition to any wedding. If you’re looking for a more customized wedding favor, try doing engraved glasses or fun, celebration buttons! Disney is famous for gifting their visitors buttons to celebrate their birthday, first time in Disney, anniversary, and so much more. Creating a button that celebrates the marriage between you and your love is adorable and totally on-theme for us Disney lovers!

Disney Wedding Gowns

At Castle Couture, we do not think that only one certain style of a wedding gown fits a Disney theme. Each Disney princess is so unique and beautiful in her own way, just like our Castle Couture brides. As long as you find a dress you love, that gown can fit into any theme you are going for! But if you are looking for that truly Disney-inspired gown, Allure has recently announced that they will be launching their Disney Fairy Tale Weddings Collection. This amazing collection was inspired by Disney Princesses and is really designed for that classic princess bride style. They have a gown for nearly every popular princess and styles that will cater to all looks.

Disney Decorations

Now that you have your look and the gifts for your guests covered, it’s time to decorate for the wedding! Centerpieces are everything when sitting at the table, so you need to make sure to wow your guests. This Beauty and The Beast-inspired centerpiece is everything and more. It is romantic, gorgeous, and a perfect size for your guests to still enjoy the company of their table and being able to chat directly across from one another. Another Disney-inspired centerpiece would be to use a mid-sized Cinderella’s carriage as a table runner as a perfect way to engage your theme.

Now that your tables are perfectly filled with Disney, it’s time to take a look around the rest of the reception. You can find simple Disney-inspired cake toppers, engraved champagne flutes, or even get creative and name your guests’ tables! For example, instead of the basic “table 1,” you can turn a table into “Space Mountain” or “Princess Aurora.” You can even go as far as turning your average guest book into a “Be Our Guest” book.

Our store manager, Caitlin Arvanites, is the biggest Disney guru we know. Arvanites spent her big day in Disney celebrating at the Wedding Pavilion and having her ceremony at the Grand Floridian. We wanted to know what made her choose Disney and her answer made us fall in love with this entire wedding theme! “Disney is more than just a place; it is a feeling that you have when you are there. It is known as ‘The Happiest Place on Earth’ where magic happens every day. Why wouldn’t you want to get married here?”

If you are as big of Disney fans as we are, send an email to PR@castlecouturenj.com and let us know how you are planning your Disney-themed wedding!

How to Get Ready for Prom

How to get ready for prom
Prom gowns by Madison James

How to Get Ready for Prom

What’s the most wonderful time of the year here at the Castle? That’s easy: it’s prom season! Prom season is in full effect for us and we want to have you join in on the fun. Here we are going to walk you through the steps necessary to help ensure you have the most amazing prom night!

Finding the Perfect Prom Dress

Prom dress shopping can certainly be overwhelming. There are thousands of gowns to choose from at Castle Couture and to be able to pick only one is super stressful (especially when all of them are so beautiful!) So, let’s start with our tips and tricks for finding the perfect gown.

At Castle Couture you do not make an appointment to shop for your prom dress. This is ideal because you can come at any time of the day and work around your schedule. Finding time to do anything as a junior or senior in high school is hard enough; finding a prom dress should be enjoyable and not at all add to your busy schedule. Because it is on a first-come, first-served basis, we always recommend coming first thing in the morning (even more so on weekends!). This way, you probably will not have to wait and can walk right into our prom boutique.

Research your prom gown style
Research your prom style

First, we suggest doing a little research online before you come to our store. This can be done by checking out our website or even our Instagram page to give you some ideas and show you different styles of prom gowns. When you arrive at our store, you will be matched with a prom stylist whom you can show your images to. This is extremely helpful for the stylist because she can begin by pulling prom gowns for you to try on that are similar to what you are showing her and then work from there. Our prom boutique has thousands of gowns in stock that can be purchased the day of your visit. This is fabulous because you get to take the gown you fall in love with home that day!

Second, we know it is a race within the schools to buy your gown first, due to the fact that you do not want someone else to have the same dress. We completely understand this, but, when it comes down to it, you should never settle for something you do not love. If the gown that you fell in love with happens to be someone else’s gown as well, that only means you both have amazing taste! Celebrities in Hollywood often wear the same gown, so totally do not stress over wearing the same gown as someone who is not even in your friend group!

Another major tip we always give our prom girls is to not worry about what others think or what others are wearing. Many times throughout a weekend we will hear our prom shoppers say they’re worried about what a friend group or boyfriend/girlfriend will think and we always remind them to wear whatever makes them feel beautiful! Prom is a time where you can wear something fun and different, so the only opinion that will matter when you look back at your photos in ten years is your own.

Add an Accessory!

Now that you have the most stunning prom dress in your high school, it’s time to top off the look with some accessories! Downstairs at Castle Couture, we offer an array of beautiful prom accessories that will pull your entire look together. Accessories are something that can be purchased anytime before the big day, but we recommend shopping the same day you bought your prom gown as you have the gown right in your hand! Accessories can range from a beautiful evening bag, which is glamorous and the perfect size for the necessities of prom night, to jewelry that will allow the lights from the hall to dance off of your gems all night long.

Perfect hair and makeup for prom

Let’s Get Glammed!

Now that you found the perfect prom dress and accessories, let’s talk about how to get the perfect hair and makeup. You should try and book an appointment with your hair and makeup artist about three months in advance to ensure you get the date and time that you’d like. You must remember that hundreds of girls will be looking to book the same date and approximate time that you want. To ensure you get first pick, the earlier to call is the better!

Some of our favorite looks for prom would include a neutral, smoky eye and a beautiful, glossy lip. A neutral, smoky eye will give you that full glam look that, perhaps, your favorite influencers look to accomplish but without looking too much out of your element! As for hair, it really depends on your gown. A high-neck gown pairs beautifully with a slicked-back ponytail while a strapless dress and huge Hollywood curls are a lovely match.

Fitted to Perfection

Now that you have your gown and your hair and makeup appointment is booked, it’s time to get fitted! We recommend booking an alterations appointment for your prom dress as soon as possible. Because hundreds of girls are getting their gowns fitted to them around the same time, seamstresses and tailors will be booking up fairly quickly. Once you have your alterations appointment, bring your shoes and undergarments to your first fitting! When you arrive prepared, you can be taken care of immediately and have your gorgeous gown fitted to your body perfectly.

Prom corsage

Don’t Forget About the Flowers!

Flowers always seem to be the one thing people tend to overlook. Whether it is for a day as large as their wedding or as exciting as their prom, it seems to be a detail easy to neglect. We suggest finding a corsage and boutonniere that will complement your and your date’s attire. Placing this order a few weeks before the date of your prom is the safest bet so you can make sure the florist has enough time to fulfill your and your date’s order.

Happy Prom Day!

The key to having the perfect prom day is to relax and prep everything beforehand. When the day comes there is only so much you can alter, so you have to go with the flow and enjoy your day! Make sure to leave yourself with lots of time so you can soak everything in and remember this day for the rest of your life. We sat down with Nicole Brain from our prom department and asked her what tips she would give to someone in order to ensure a smooth prom day. “Leave all your stress and negativity at home. This is supposed to be an effortless and most amazing time of your life. You only have a junior/senior prom once, so make sure to make the most of it! Take lots of photos. This way, you can look back at all the great memories you have made.”

Send all your prom looks over to our Instagram page @castlecouture and tell us how you will be prepping for prom.

Wedding Dress Timeline: From Shopping to Alterations

Your designer bridal gown will be custom-made for you

Wedding Dress Timeline: I’m Ready to Buy My Gown, What’s Next?

Congratulations! You are finally shopping for the wedding dress of your dreams. We’re sure you have a million questions, but, no worries, we have your back. This week we’re going to go over everything you need to know when it comes to the time frame of dress shopping.

When Do I Start Wedding Dress Shopping?

The ideal time to begin wedding dress shopping would be about one year before you tie the knot. Now, this may sound like it is too soon, but you’ll understand why shortly. Gowns can take about nine months to arrive and you still need time for slight alterations as well as steaming and pressing of your bridal gown. Brides come to Castle Couture to find the wedding gown of their dreams and these gowns are created by some of the most fabulous – and busy – bridal gown designers in the world, like Matthew Christopher, Allure Bridals, and Stephen Yearick. After you fall in love with one of our designers’ gowns, we will place the order straight to the designer’s warehouse.

Each gown order we place is custom-made for you. This means the fabric is cut based on your body measurements and in the colors you requested (which is why our bridal gowns are considered final sale). It takes time to cut the fabrics, create the gown, and add any custom beading or appliques the bride may have requested. Most gowns (not all!) are made overseas, so once you factor shipping into this process that can easily be an additional four to six weeks.

Bring your shoes and undergarments to your Try on Gown appointment

My Dress Came In, Now What?

So exciting! The gown in which you will be starting your “happily ever after” has arrived. The next step would be to set up your “Try On Gown” appointment, commonly known as your TOG. This appointment is your chance to check out your beautiful gown, show your family, and make sure that everything is perfect. At this appointment, we suggest bringing the undergarments that you plan on wearing the day of your wedding as well as your heels. This is not an alterations appointment, but it is an opportunity to meet with our fabulous seamstresses who have worked on endless couture gowns and have years upon years of experience! At your TOG, a seamstress can give you a quote as to how much your alterations may be, based on the gown, beadwork, and any custom work you may want to be done to the dress.

Let the Alterations Begin!

Starting alterations means you are that much closer to the big day! Alterations should be started about three months before you say, “I do.” The reason is that this is most likely the closest your body is going to be to how it will look the day of your wedding, yet still allow for the alterations to be finished in time. Be prepared to have an average of three to five fittings. This is because your first appointment is simply to chat with the seamstress, get pinned, and explain what your goals are for the gown. We chatted with one of our alterations department supervisors, Jess Tolwinski, to get her advice for any brides that are about to begin the alterations process. “I always recommend bringing a friend or family member with you that you really trust. There are a lot of decisions that need to be made when it comes to how the gown will look and having someone help you is always a great feeling. This is your big day and making sure you look absolutely perfect is always our goal,” explained Tolwinski.

Once alterations are complete, the bride will typically pick up her gown about two to three days before the wedding. This is so the gown is steamed and stuffed to perfection and will be flawless when removed from the white garment bag on the wedding day!

These Valentine’s Day Wedding Ideas Have Our Hearts Bursting

There is no better day of the year to express your love than on February 14th. Valentine’s Day has been celebrated for over a hundred years, which is exactly how long your love will be lasting! Here we went over our favorite Valentine’s Day wedding themes and all the love that is put into each.

Valentine’s Day Wedding Ideas

Fabulous decor is truly what makes a Valentine’s Day wedding so on theme! Decorations can range from backdrops and centerpieces to table confetti and much more. After that you need to think of all the small details. This can include invitations, cake, and even tie your theme into your bouquet. Take a read and see which of these ideas you would have at your Valentine’s Day wedding.

Invitations

You really need to set the scene and give your guests a little taste of what to expect based on your invite. A great Valentine’s Day wedding invite will include the obvious colors of reds and pinks, but it really should express the love you share for your future spouse within the invite. Try to include a personal touch that will tie in your theme of love with all your guests. An example of this could be adding the constellations from the night you met on the back of the invite, a map of where you said yes, or adding a photo from the first Valentine’s Day you ever spent together (everyone loves a good throwback!).

Centerpieces

A classic Valentine’s Day look consists of romance: deep reds and blush tones. A centerpiece that would fit right into that theme and is also a super simple DIY is using tall glass vases filled with water and red rose petals, with a floating candle on top. This is super simple, inexpensive, and an awesome way to make sure that your guests can still chat across the table.

Another centerpiece idea is a bundle of rose petals – ranging from reds and pinks to white – and cluster them in the center, sprinkling small diamond decor pieces on top and about four candles lined up on top of the petals. This is another simple, yet elegant, centerpiece that could tie in your whole table.

Photo Moments

Some of the best parts of weddings are looking back at all the fun and silly photos you took with your friends and family. Finding photo ops that will help add to your memories is always important and your guests will love you for it. We are totally gushing over the thought of having a “Kissing Booth” themed photo booth at your wedding! It is a cute, old school way to have photo ops that all the couples and families will love!  Another photo idea is having your florist create a sculpture made of roses. This could be a large XO or a large heart made of roses. We love, love, love this idea! It’s not only an awesome photo opportunity but a fabulous decoration to keep around your venue or place behind your sweetheart table during desserts.

Bouquets

Speaking of your florist, ask them to create a stunning bouquet that is classic and romantic. Roses are, of course, the first flower that comes to mind for Valentine’s Day; but adding some sparkles to the bouquet as well as some sweet baby’s breath is a lovely way to enhance a basic rose bouquet. As your flowers will be filled with a rich red and bright white, your bridesmaids’ bouquets could be filled with blush-toned roses. These will complement your look without outshining your bridal bouquet.

Favors

Your family and friends were kind enough to spend the most romantic and intimate day of the year to come out and celebrate you and your new spouse, so thanking them in a fabulous way only seems right! Cute Valentine’s Day wedding-themed favors can include so much, but the most popular ones definitely seem to be the following!

  1. A mini box of chocolates with the date of your wedding and names on the box.
  2. A custom-labeled bottle of champagne.
  3. A flower truck outside handing out roses as your guests leave for the night.
  4. Champagne- or rose-infused gummy bears.
  5. Custom-printed M&M’s: these could have your wedding date, photos, and names on them.

Favors are such a fun way to express yourself and really wow your guests!

Valentine’s Day is on a Sunday in 2021, so get your planning started and message us on our Instagram how you’ll be celebrating with your loved ones @castlecouturebridal!

How to Stay Warm at a Winter Wedding

Winter weddings are one of the most beautiful opportunities to cozy up with your loved ones and celebrate one of the most exciting, monumental moments in your life. Winter weddings are beyond fabulous, but the most difficult encounter about these amazing days is how chilly it can get at these events. From frosty toes, rosy cheeks, and shivering guests, you want to make sure, whether you are the bride or a guest, you are as comfortable as one can be during this exciting day!

Dress for A Winter Wedding

As mentioned, winter weddings can be absolutely stunning, which means your outfit should match just that! When it comes to guests, any deep, jewel-toned gowns are great to wear. During the colder months, you are fairer than any other time of the year; that’s why wearing a rich color will be most flattering compared to rocking a pastel shade in February. Along with a beautiful, rich tone, a black faux fur shawl is a great addition to any winter look! Now that the guests will be looking fabulous, it’s time to focus on the bride.

When it comes to winter weddings, we always suggest brides wear whatever they’re most comfortable in! A wedding is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to wear what makes you feel most beautiful. We sat down with our bridal manager, Christina Dougherty, to get her opinion on what a bride should wear when she’s saying “I do” during these frigid months. “The season should never matter; only her feelings should matter. Whether she goes for glitter or a floral lace pattern, any gown works great with any season. You should only dress for you and what makes you happy. Your dress should have your personality in it, not a season.” So, a bride should wear whatever she desires: It is her big day and if that means a strapless mermaid is her dream dress, that is exactly what she should wear!

Shoes For a Winter Wedding

Shoes are one of the most fun and fabulous accessories to shop for (and one that you can even get carried away shopping for!). When it comes to your wedding day, get ready to pray to the shoe gods to find the most perfect heel! Winter weddings are tricky when it comes to shoe shopping considering weather can really play a major role. Your wedding dress is one thing – this is your chance to express yourself and feel like the princess you always imagined yourself being – but when it comes to shoes that’s a different story! You need to find something gorgeous, yet comfortable. We always suggest the brand Badgley Mischka to our brides as we believe they are the most beautiful wedding shoes you’ll ever find and are extremely comfortable. They’re meant for all-day wear; this way, your feet will be thanking you! Finding a beautiful, comfortable pair is important for any wedding, but for a wedding held any time from November through Februrary, we also suggest rocking a closed-toe look. Naturally, your toes and fingers are the first to lose blood flow in the cold and turn that not so flattering blueish color. Nobody wants that to happen to them, especially on a day where all eyes are on you! A beautiful closed-toe heel with a glamorous brooch is exactly what every bride needs to be warm, comfortable, and looking beautiful!

Additional Tips for Your Big Day!

Some additional fun, fabulous tips for hosting a winter wedding include what to pack in your purse, some additional ideas for décor, and how to stay nice and toasty!

Your Purse

When it comes to what to put in your purse for yourself and your bridal party, it should include tissues, hand warmers, and lip balm! These may sound silly or make you question why you would need such things, but these tissues aren’t just for the tears you may shed as you say your “I dos”, but for when you are outside in the cold taking your photos! Naturally, your nose will begin to run and there is no need to sniffle throughout all your wedding photos. The next must-have is hand warmers! Everyone will be looking at that stunning ring on your left hand and the last thing you want is for your hands to be as cold as ice! This goes for your bridal party as well. They’ll be outside with you and your partner the entire time and should be just as cozy as the happy couple. Lastly, you must have some sort of lip balm in your purse! With the number of friends and family you’ll be kissing hello and the number of photos you’ll be smiling in, it’s important to not have chapped or cracked lips. A bride should look like a million bucks at all times and helping her stay cozy will make the day that more memorable!

Winter Decor

When all is said and done, this is a winter wedding, after all, so embrace it when it comes to your decor! We love ice sculptures around the reception; this is such a classic way to decorate while incorporating your theme.

Keeping Warm

Any part of the wedding that is outdoors, such as a reception or cocktail hour, must have multiple outdoor heaters! This is a great way to have your guests cozy up and chat by a heater. Or, even better, an amazing little fireplace to have a cocktail in front of is always a great addition to any wedding!

If you’re a winter bride and have any other suggestions for those getting married, shoot us an email at PR@castlecouturenj.com so we can share with our Castle Couture ladies!

Dress Like You’re on “The Bachelor”

The Bachelor Dresses: How to Dress Like You Are on The Bachelor

You already accepted the ring, but will you accept this rose? The Bachelor has been filling millions of homes on Monday nights for over 15 years and we can’t get enough! Between the handsome bachelor, gorgeous women, and drama-packed hours, it can be hard to decide what the best part is. For us, the answer is easy: We are obsessed with the beautiful gowns that these ladies are rocking each rose ceremony! Below we went over the “first night” looks some of the women wore and provide similar options that are available at Castle Couture!

Hannah Anns

Hannah Anns’ first night look consisted of a beautiful, thick strapped, plunging v-neck gown in a stunning emerald color and made with thick, jersey material. This stunning look can be mimicked by one of our most popular designers, Jessica Angel. Style number 327 is the perfect way to achieve this look in the most elegant way possible. Jessica Angel gowns are beyond beautiful and a great look for prom, guest of a wedding, or any special occasion. Emerald has been such a popular color this year, looking fabulous on so many skin tones. A gorgeous green will truly bring out nearly anyone’s eye color, especially Hannah Ann’s big, green eyes!

Alayah B.

Similar to Hannah’s gown, Alayah wore a plunging v-neck with a high slit and a cinched waistline. This pageant queen rocked a cream-colored gown from Jessica Angel style 385, which is available at Castle Couture! High slits have been a trend for years and are still just as hot as ever. The beauty of this look is that it can always be altered to your liking. In our alterations department, we can always close the neckline or bring the slit a little lower to make our Castle Couture ladies feel as comfortable as possible and make this gown perfect for each individual style.

Sydney H.

Over the last few episodes on Peter’s season of The Bachelor, Sydney was first to initiate a whirlwind of drama within the house. Between her controversy with Alayah and bringing it to Peter’s attention, there has not been a dull moment with her and that is exactly why we love her! Sydney manages to speak her truth all while doing so in style. The first night, she arrived in one of the most glamorous gowns of the night: a heavily beaded, champagne gown with an extremely flattering halter neckline. The gown had an open back and mini train that left a heavy impact on Peter. We loved this gown so much we tried our best to find a match and decided this amazing Jovani gown is close to perfect!

Victoria F.

Victoria F. really rocked the house in this past week’s episode after the drama arose with her ex-boyfriend making an appearance at her one-on-one with Peter. Victoria has been the main character on the show from the Chase Rice drama, almost winning the Revolve fashion show and even her pickup line to Peter on night one. Not only was her pickup line one for the books, but so was her beautiful gown. At first, it seemed as though she were wearing a black beaded gown, but, after a closer look, it was actually a deep emerald. As mentioned earlier, this color looks so rich on everyone, we weren’t surprised to see her looking like a supermodel. The gown’s features included thicker straps, a deep neckline, and twinkles as she took every step. A gown that would almost mimic this look is our Primavera Couture gown in Forest Green. This Primavera gown has a slit, a low back, and gorgeous vertical beading that is designed to elongate your body.

Shiann

Shiann’s dress consisted of a high neck, cream-colored gown with a unique sequin print. This unique print was perfect for showcasing her curves in the best way possible as she wore her hair down and rocked a soft glam makeup look. Finding a gown similar to this look was more challenging because of how unusual and stunning it was. We did our best to match it and came across a Jovani gown that has been a huge hit this year due to its unique pattern and flattering shape. Jovani 2669 is nearly identical to Shiann’s look, minus the neckline. Our Jovani gown is off-the-shoulder with a lovely sweetheart neckline while Shiann’s dress had a high-neck look.

Lauren

Lauren’s first-night look had us absolutely gushing! She completely stood out from the other women not because of the color or fabric of her look but because she wore the hottest jumpsuit we have ever seen! All the women wore stunning gowns and that is exactly what almost everyone has done in past seasons. So, for her to pop out in this black lace jumpsuit with a tad of sparkle was such a power move! Even “the Bachelor” himself mentioned how he loved her “power suit.” If you’re looking to rock something like this, we totally recommend checking out Jovani 64068. This jumpsuit is just as powerful as Lauren’s, but comes with this fabulous bow and plunging neckline to add an extra element of sexy!

How-to: Perfect Bridal Hair and Makeup

How to Achieve the Perfect Bridal Hair & Makeup

Achieving the perfect bridal hair and makeup is just as important as finding the dress of your dreams. Just like shopping for gowns, there are so many options and all can set a completely different mood and look for your big day. Below are our favorite looks that would look stunning on nearly any bride!

The Classic Bride

This look consists of a gorgeous smoky eye, classic red lip, and soft complexion with a soft updo. This look is one of our favorites and most universal. A red lip symbolizes power and confidence, which is exactly what every bride will be exuding on her wedding day! Although this lip is a stunner, you do need to be wary of it staining, especially when you’re in your wedding gown. Finding a great matte formula is an easy way to avoid this issue and still pull together this classic look. Next would be creating an elegant smoky eye. Many brides get nervous when they hear the idea of using a smoky eye on their big day. This is because so many times it is assumed this consists of shades of grays and blacks, but that is not always the case! Makeup artist Monica Case chatted with us about what exactly a smoky eye is and how to achieve it. “A smoky eye is when your eyeshadow is darker and more defined at the lash line and at the outer corner of your eye. The lightest part should be the inner corner to open up your eye and the darker tones on the outer corner will add sultriness and elongate the eye.” Our next suggestion would be to create a softer complexion considering you’ll be rocking a bold eye and lip already. Ask your makeup artist to use a medium coverage foundation with a neutral finish. This foundation works well with so many skin types because a neutral finish will blend in beautifully whether you have oily or dry skin.

When it comes to the classic bride’s hairstyle, we imagine a gorgeous updo. This can range from buns or high ponytails. Regardless, it is a beautiful way to show off your gown, makeup, and, of course, yourself!

The No-Makeup Makeup Bride

This look is for all our brides who may not be into all the glitz and glam but still want a little extra something on their big day. A no-makeup makeup look will have a light coverage foundation, a little liner, and a clear gloss to plump your lips. The light coverage foundation will quickly smooth out any imperfections you may have (we know how those zits love to sneak up right before any big event!), especially if you use a formula that has a dewy finish. A dewy, light coverage foundation is fabulous for that no-makeup-makeup look and will give you a beautiful glow. Compared to our classic bride who would be wearing a bold lip, this look may have a simple gloss over a nude lipstick. To tie this look together, we recommend a bit of eyeliner and a great mascara to lengthen and curl your lashes! After your makeup artist has mastered the makeup look you want, the next thing to focus on is how you want your hair to be styled. For this effortless look, the same theme should be carried into whatever hairstyle you choose. For women with long hair, we suggest that you have your stylist create long, loose curls to give you a finished yet effortless style.

The “Natural Glam” Bride

A “natural glam” bride is one who wants to look like herself but enhanced. She wants to show off all of her best features but does not want to look like a totally different person. A look like this may include a medium to full coverage foundation, a beautiful neutral lip, and fun lashes! A set of full falsies can really bring together your bridal makeup look. A pair that is shorter by your tear duct and then flares out by your outer corner can give the illusion of larger eyes. Monica gave her opinion on what comes to mind when a bride requests a natural glam makeup look on her special day. “Every bride wants to look beautiful on the day of their wedding and some brides worry that makeup may be “too much” because they want to look like themselves. I always try to emphasize their strong features and I recommend a natural glam [look] because it includes a flawless face and soft on the eyes. I do suggest doing more coverage on the face to give a smooth, even finish. I always want my brides to feel so beautiful on their special day!”

Couture Bridal Spotlight

5 Couture Bridal Designers You Need to Check Out

To be a bride is such a special and exciting time: You get to plan one of the biggest days of your life, surrounded by the people who love you and your fiancé the most, while wearing the gown of your dreams. Most brides have been dreaming about and planning this day ever since they were young. At Castle Couture, we are honored to help turn you into the bride you’ve always dreamt of being on your big day! This week, we are spotlighting five couture designers that you need to check out. This is just a small selection of the thousands of gowns and incredible designers we carry! If any of these designers sound interesting to you, certainly give us a call and we’d love to set you up with a bridal appointment and an expert bridal stylist to find the gown of your dreams.

Stephen Yearick

Stephen Yearick is a brand that has worked with Castle Couture for years. The designer, Leigh, is known for his hand-beaded work, custom changes, and bringing that high-fashion runway look to the bridal boutiques. What makes this designer so special is the fact that every part of his work is customizable. This means if you love a gown but, for example, want a certain layer of tulle removed or added or if you want a certain section of beadwork a different color, he can achieve that. One of our Castle Couture brides, Jenni (JWoww) Farley, wore a Stephen Yearick gown on her big day! His bridal gowns are truly ones to fawn over and his evening wear gowns are just as stunning. From heavily beaded gowns to feathers and even detachable trains, he does it all. And what’s better than mom and daughter rocking the same designer at the wedding?

Castle Couture is hosting a Stephen Yearick trunk show on Saturday, January 25, and Sunday, January 26, 2020. This trunk show will be for both bridal and evening wear! Any questions on what a trunk show is? Check out our previous blog! One of the designer’s representatives will be attending the trunk show and bringing some of the new, hot designs. What is so interesting about Stephen Yearick is that they have a sister brand known as Ysa Makino. Ysa Makino and Stephen Yearick are, although different brands, part of the same company. This means Ysa Makino has gowns that are just as glamorous and extravagant as Stephen Yearick’s. These gowns are elegant yet filled with glamour, making them the perfect couture look!

Matthew Christopher

Matthew Christopher is a talented, fabulous designer who exudes happiness and joy to everyone he comes in contact with and his beautiful energy is certainly reflected in his designs. His gowns are stunning and created with the most luxurious fabrics. He is known for his tastefully sexy, structured gowns that look as though they were painted onto a bride’s body. His gowns fit like a glove and emphasize a woman’s curves in the best way possible. He can even give a shape to a woman who doesn’t have one! This line also offers custom veils to exactly match your gown’s beadwork. Matthew Christopher has visited our boutique more times than one can count and each time he builds new relationships with his Matthew Christopher brides.

Matthew’s gowns deliver the perfect combination of elegance, timelessness, and sophistication in every look. A Matthew Christopher gown has amazing construction to flatter your body as well as quality to last a lifetime. Matthew Christopher achieves a couture look that will have any bride looking and feeling like royalty.

Shlomit Azrad

This Israeli designer’s gowns are nothing short of jaw-dropping. The Schlomit Azrad couture line is known for its unique beadwork, high slits, plunging necklines, and low backs. Their gowns are a blend of sexy and classy, which is a difficult look to achieve, but she manages to do so seamlessly.

To wear a Shlomit Azrad gown for your wedding is such a luxury. The designs are certainly couture, achieving a straight-off-the-runway look as well as having an eastern European design with a modern twist. The bride who wears one of these stunners is one who is daring and looking for a more edgy and exotic look.

Eve of Milady

Many brides dream of looking like a princess on their wedding days and wearing an Eve of Milady gown is the perfect way to achieve just that. These gowns are a great way to have a traditional, yet couture, look. Another Castle Couture bride, Angelina Pivarnick, wore an Eve of Milady on wedding day in November and looked exquisite! This couture designer is extra special because they offer matching veils with a selection of their gowns.

Eve is known for their signature long trains and soft sparkle. They have been around for over 40 years and clearly know how to transform and evolve with the times, constantly keeping up with the hottest trends that brides ask for.

Julie Vino

One of newest, gorgeous gown designers to be available at Castle Couture Julie Vino. We love to view these as an understated sexy, but they are also the perfect gown to get that whimsical look while still looking bridal. The quality of her fabrics is outstanding due to the fact that they custom-make them to ensure the utmost perfection in their gowns.

Castle Couture will be hosting a Julie Vino trunk show on February 1 and 2, 2020, where we will be receiving a special selection of stunning gowns, in addition to what is part of our inventory. She is the next big thing to hit the bridal industry!

Bridal Gowns: Classic or Trendy?

Classic or Trendy? Find Out What the Queens of the Castle Would Wear on Their Big Day!

In the world of bridal, there are so many different styles and designers that it can be overwhelming for a bride to make a decision on her dream dress, especially when there are so many gorgeous pieces! We sat down with a handful of our expert bridal consultants to put them in the shoes of all our Castle Couture brides and find out what type of bride they would want to be on their wedding day. We wanted to know what their dream dress is, any advice they may have for a bride who is struggling to make a final decision and so much more!

Meet Christina Dougherty!

Christina Dougherty
Pronovias in classic lace

Christina Dougherty is a bridal stylist and team leader here and we had the luxury of chatting with her about all things bridal. When a bride comes in and asks for a “classic” bridal gown, what exactly does this mean to a consultant? What looks come to mind?
Christina explained that throughout her four years of working here, these are the looks that she would pull when getting that request: “When I hear a bride is looking for a more classic bridal gown, the first thing that comes to mind is a clean look. My first gown to pull would be a Pronovias or something with gorgeous, traditional lace that will always be in style.” Pronovias wedding gowns are known for their clean lines, beautiful Spanish lace, and timeless looks.

Although a look like this is something you could not go wrong with, not every bride wants to be traditional. Many brides who come in are looking for a gown that will shed light on their personality, be unique, and have the look that’s straight off the runway. Christina explained how a trendy gown can truly be something a little more edgy and different. For instance, this can include a plunging v-neck gown, low back, 3-D appliqués, or could even be a gown with a pop of color.

Christina’s dream gown?

Our consultants are fabulous at what they do and are great at helping our brides find the dress of their dreams, but what happens when they are asked to pick out their dream gown? Christina expressed that her dream dress would be a classic style with a hint of edginess. Her dream dress would be something with long sleeves, a deep v-neck, and she would even love to wear a black bridal gown. (But mama Dougherty would not approve!)

Meet Kristen Lubrano!

Kristen Lubrano

Kristen Lubrano has been with Castle Couture for three years and has already experienced the beautiful chaos of planning her big day. (PS: She bought her gown from Castle Couture even before she started working with us.) What is so interesting about Kristen’s thoughts on a classic versus trendy bridal gown is that she would change everything about her big day look! She wore a traditional bridal gown for her wedding, but, if she were to plan her day all over again, she exclaimed that she would go with something much trendier and more fun. “I think if I were to have a vow renewal I would for sure do a lot of sparkles, a detachable train, and even feathers!”

Kristen, just like Christina, feels as though a trendier look would be a dress with color or maybe a sheer bodice, while something more classic and traditional would be an A-line with simple lace. Kristen’s best advice for a bride who is struggling to make a decision on her wedding gown would be to pick whatever you feel most beautiful wearing. All of the bridal gowns you try on are going to be gorgeous, but the only thing that matters is what makes you feel the most beautiful.

Meet Jamie Sorrentino!

Jamie Sorrentino

Every bride has their own style and ideal dress for their wedding day and that’swhat makes your day so exciting to plan! So, what makes a classic or trendy bridal gown, according to Jamie Sorrentino, another of our bridal stylists? We spoke with her to see what her thoughts were on this topic. “When I hear someone is shopping for a more classic gown, I automatically think of a clean satin ball gown. But if someone asks me to pull more hot and trendy gowns, I will go for a gown with a cape or something other than white.”

When Jamie was asked what her dream dress would be, she explained how she is a complete mix of both a classic and trendy bride. On her wedding day, she would love to have an overskirt with lots of sparkles but still a touch of elegant lace. It can be hard to make a decision on what dress to wear for your big day and is sometimes very confusing. Even Jamie struggled to pick out what she would want to wear when she is a bride one day, so we asked if she had any suggestions for women going through something similar. “Enjoy every moment of dress shopping and bring your most trustworthy friends. We always suggest bringing no more than three guests; just your small core group to help you pick the dress of your dreams.”

Meet Amy Townsley!

Amy Townsley

The last bridal stylist we had the pleasure of sitting down with was Amy Townsley. Amy has been with Castle Couture for nearly four years and loves the world of weddings more than anyone you”l ever meet! Amy, just like our other stylists, feels as though she is a mix of both a trendy and classic bride. She would definitely want two looks for her wedding day: The first would be a totally clean-cut look with a gorgeous, off-the-shoulder gown for her ceremony. When it is time for the reception, she wants a fun, sparkly, short dress to spend the night partying in, all while wowing her guests.

It seemed to be an ongoing pattern that our consultants couldn’t decide between if they were a more classic or trendy bride and that is totally okay! Not everyone fits within a certain category and that is what makes all of our styles so unique. Amy’s advice for any bride shopping for her big day would be to always remember that no one can tell you how you feel. When you are shopping for the perfect gown, nine times out of ten you are going to get this gut feeling of just knowing this is the bridal gown for you. You want to feel the best you’ve ever felt in any article of clothing and just know this is the gown you want to spend your special day in.

New Year’s Eve Wedding Ideas

Happy (almost) New Year to our Castle Couture friends and family! The last week of the year is always the best: It is the perfect time to reflect on all you have accomplished, plan for the future, and – what’s even better – most of us have a day or more off from work! There is always so much joy that surrounds entering a new year, let alone a new decade. Here, we’re going to break down our favorite New Year’s Eve wedding trends.

Fun Favors

There is no better way to ring in the new year than with friends, family, and the love of your life. No item could ever thank those beloved people for taking the time out of their schedules to celebrate with you, but you can certainly try! One of our favorite favors for a New Year’s Eve wedding is engraved bells your friends and family can use to ring in the new year. This is a fun, festive way to share a memory while also celebrating this international holiday. Another way to thank your guests for celebrating your wedding and New Year’s would be to give mini bottles of champagne with custom labels. Champagne, the alcoholic beverage that is famous for toasting and celebrations, is a great memento for your guests to keep or pop open to celebrate!

Divine Decor

Remember, you only have seconds to make a first impression, so make it count! This is your time to pull out all of your creativity and truly give them that “wow” factor. One décor idea our Castle family has fallen head over heels for is a stunning, black and gold color scheme. This allows you to have an elegant, classic wedding with a hint of the holiday thrown in. This can give you an array of decor opportunities such as a champagne tower or a string lights gathered on the venue walls in place of up-lighting, and your options for customizations are endless.

An easily personalized décor item is glitter signs with your wedding date (these pieces are great because they can transition into your home). Another fun way to incorporate the New Year’s holiday theme into your wedding is with the use of clocks. Now, it may sound strange, but there are many opportunities to incorporate this idea into your event. The focus of this night is, of course, around you and your significant other, but it is also about when the clock strikes midnight. Having a “clock wall” for a photo prop moment or corks with the hands of the clock striking midnight is what brings even more excitement and creativity to your wedding.

The Gowns for Your Big Night

Your bridal gown is one of the most exciting parts of planning your big day. When you go shopping, you have so many different options regarding the look you want when you make your debut down the aisle and what to dress your bridal party in. Let’s start with the most important gown of the night: Yours!

Our favorite bridal look for a New Year’s Eve wedding is something that is sure to bring the drama, which can include lots of bling and be unique. A designer who is famous for this glamorous bridal style is Stephen Yearick. Stephen Yearick wedding gowns often include detachable trains, capes, sheer bodices, and extravagant veils.

Although your look is the center of your guest’s attention, the night would not be complete without your best friends by your side. Some great, New Year’s Eve bridesmaid looks include a stunning, glitzy, gold dress with simple accessories or a satin black gown paired with gold accessories. Your bridesmaids are there to support you and tie your whole look together. Some of our favorite bridesmaid dress designers are Hayley Paige and Jessica Angel. Both lines feature simple bridesmaid gowns that come in a variety of colors and silhouettes.

The possibilities are endless with a New Year’s Eve wedding. It is truly the night of many firsts and the start of your happily ever after!

Veils 101: How to Find the Perfect Veil for the Perfect Day

There is so much to do when it comes to planning the perfect wedding day. From finding the perfect venue, dress, ring, and, of course, the perfect soul mate, it can be easy to overlook some small but majorly important details. This week we’re going to chat about all things veils and everything you need to know when shopping for one.

A Style for Everyone

Each and every bride is unique, and it’s so important that she has a veil that will express her special qualities. Here we will break down the different lengths, styles, and looks you can rock on your special day.

We chatted with Castle Couture’s Accessories Manager, Cathy Fratangelo, to see what advice she had to give for brides that are still in search of a veil. “My advice is always to be open-minded and remember to have the gown as your main focus. I like to think of accessories as the ‘icing on the cake’; it is what really ties a look together. I always tell my brides to try on different things, because pictures are forever, and this is how you want to be remembered.”

cathedral veil

The Princess Bride

If you’re the bride who is looking to truly tie in the fairy-tale factor on your big day, nothing screams “happily ever after” more than a cathedral veil. These veils can be beautifully embellished with lace or beadwork and drape so elegantly behind you as you walk down the aisle to the love of your life. They can range from 117 inches up to however many feet you would like, as long as time permits for customizations. These veils are the perfect amount of drama and elegance all in one.

The Classic Bride

If you’re not looking for the drama and are in search of a more timeless, classic look, then a fabulous fingertip veil may be the perfect style for you. Fingertip veils, just like cathedrals, can range from being heavily embellished or have intricate lace to a simple tulle.

One of the most exciting parts about accessory shopping is that this is your chance to tie in your whole look to be everything you have ever wanted. Here at Castle Couture, you can to sit down with one of our stylists and describe exactly what you’re looking for when it comes to not only your veil but your headpiece and jewelry as well. We can customize just about everything and anything: Whether it is the length, extra appliqués, a change in beadwork, or anything else you could imagine, we are able to personalize your look to make a one-of-a-kind piece for you.

Not Just Your Basic Ivory

While on the topic of custom pieces, not every bride has that luxury of picking out every small detail for her big day, usually due to time. We always recommend that a bride purchase her veil at the same time as her gown; this way, you can ensure that the two are a perfect match. If you don’t think you have the time to select your accessories the day you find your dream dress, we still have you covered. We have nearly everything in stock, including white, ivory, champagne, and even black veils that you can try on when it is time to pick up your gown. This is something we pride ourselves on because we are able to help each and every one of our brides at the moment she is ready.

Blusher vs No Blusher

These are veil questions that brides ask more often than not: Are blushers in? Does she have to wear them? Is it a tradition? Our job is the ensure and remind you that this is your special day and there truly is no style that is “in” anymore. Each bride is extremely unique and so are their wishes for their wedding day. We tried getting to the bottom of the blusher versus no blusher debate and reached out once again to our Accessories Manager, Cathy Fratangelo. Cathy concluded that about 75% of our brides decide not to wear a blusher down the aisle, while the other quarter continues to rock this style on their big day. One trend she did note in regard to the brides who choose to wear blushers is that they prefer a style that is longer than the blusher that their mothers may have worn.

Common Questions About Veils

I didn’t purchase my veil the day I bought my wedding dress, can I still shop for one?

Yes, you can. Stop in anytime during store hours to work with a skilled stylist and find the veil that suits you and your gown best. Keep in mind, it can take about four to five months for certain styles to arrive.

veils of all lengths

How long does it take to order a veil?

A standard veil can take about four months to come in and a customized veil can take about six months to arrive.

Do I wear my veil all night?

You can do whatever you prefer, but a majority of our brides do tend to take the veil off after the ceremony. This way, they can take photos with the veil, say their “I dos,” and still be able to dance the night away!

If you’re interested in setting up an accessories appointment, give us a call at 732-617-1414 and we would love to help you find the perfect veil!

Why Trunk Show Weekends Are Totally Worth the Hype

Recently engaged or planning to attend your best friend’s wedding or other special occasion requiring formal attire? We have you covered! It is time to grab your besties and start shopping. One of the most exciting parts about weddings is the joy that comes from going dress shopping with your closest friends. With so many designers and so many options, it can be overwhelming to find the style that complements you best.

When choosing the best weekend to go dress shopping, we wanted to deep dive into all the incentives and excitement that can come from joining your favorite designer at a trunk show weekend! Although this article is discussing bridal trunk shows specifically, the information in it applies to evening wear and prom trunk shows, too.

What Is a Trunk Show?

Let’s start with the basics: What is a trunk show? Why do I want to attend one? Trunk show weekends are special because this is when a designer will bring in a selection of gowns which are the top sellers or the newest arrivals to their collection. Most stores don’t have these particular dresses in stock yet and this is the perfect opportunity for you to try on your favorite designer. This is also a fabulous opportunity for you to be one of the first to see the designers’ newest looks for the upcoming season as well as finally wear that gown that you’ve been dreaming about. If you are already head over heels for a designer such as Allure, Matthew Christopher, or Hayley Paige, a trunk show is your chance to chat with their rep (or maybe even the designer!), try items from their latest season, and find the dress of your dreams!

Benefits of a Trunk Show

When it comes to bridal gown shopping, almost every bride begins to go overboard when it comes to pinning, reposting, and saving all her favorite styles and designers on social media. The beauty of a trunk show is this can be your chance to turn your Pinterest board into a reality. You have the opportunity to meet with the designer or representatives to make custom changes, design matching veils, or take home some fun designer swag!

Our stylists love trunk show weekends for just as many reasons as our brides do. They get to see all the latest styles, make our brides’ dreams come true, and hear the stories behind each one of the dresses whenever a representative comes to work with us. Jody Alvino, one of Castle Couture’s senior staff members – who has been working with our brides for nearly eight years – spoke with us about her favorite part of trunk show weekends: “My favorite part has to be giving the bride a broader selection of the designer that they love with all the latest styles.”

Common Trunk Show Questions

Most first-time bridal shoppers are not always familiar with what exactly a trunk show is and that is the exact reason why we felt it was so important to sit down and talk with our beautiful brides about it. Below we answered some of our most commonly asked questions when it comes to all things trunk shows.

Yes. In order to shop in our bridal department, you will need an appointment whether it is on a trunk show weekend or during the week. This is important because you will work with one of our expert stylists one-on-one and have someone answer every question you may have.

Can I try on other bridal gowns during my appointment?

100% yes. The bridal appointment you have during the trunk show weekend will allow you to try on not only our trunk show gowns but all the bridal gowns we have in the showroom.

Am I buying the stock piece?

No. As long as timing permits, you will be able to order a brand-new gown. As trunk show gowns are a selection of newer pieces that the brand has created, the gowns typically travel around the country from store to store nearly every weekend. (Another reason to be ready to say yes: these dresses leave our store on Monday!) We will place a special order your gown, which will not only be brand new but be a much closer fit to your body than the stock piece.

Will I be able to try the trunk show piece again?

This is one of the most common questions we receive, and it hurts us to say you cannot. As previously mentioned, these gowns are here for one weekend only. After our last appointments on Sunday afternoon, the dresses are prepared to be shipped to the next store where the next set of lucky brides get to try on these beautiful dresses.

Can I customize the trunk show gown?

The beauty of working with bridal gowns is that because they are designed for you and your big day, nine times out of ten you will be able to customize a trunk show piece, whether this means adding sleeves, extra buttons, or even more bling. The possibilities are endless! This can be even more exciting when working directly with the designer on this special weekend because the creativity that flows out of them is truly magical.
